What is Minesweeper?

In Minesweeper you have to reveal every cell of the board that has no mine under it. The numbers you uncover show how many mines are in the eight neighboring cells, and from them you work out where the dangerous cells are hiding. Right-click or long-press to put a flag on a suspicious cell. The game starts with a safe area already revealed, so you do not have to rely on luck even for your first move.

If you grew up on the old Windows Minesweeper but were always annoyed at having to guess at the end, this one is for you: we have checked every board, and each can be finished by pure logic. Learn the common patterns, such as a 1-2-1 along a wall, where the mines are next to the two outer numbers. The daily board is 12×12 on weekdays and 16×16 on the weekend.

FAQ

Do I really never have to guess?

Never. Every board starts with a revealed opening area, and a solver checks that the whole board can be finished by logic from there.

Which patterns are worth knowing?

In a 1-2-1 pattern the mines are in the cells next to the two 1s, not in the one next to the 2. If a number already has as many flags around it as its value, the rest of its neighbors are safe.

How big is the daily minefield?

Medium (12×12) from Monday to Friday, large (16×16) on the weekend. In free play you can also choose a small 9×9 board.
